The British company Bullitt, known for producing durable phones under the Caterpillar (CAT) and Motorola Defy brands, was unable to restructure financially and ultimately folded. Former employees took to LinkedIn to share the news that the company is unable to manage its debt, and all are now seeking new employment opportunities.
According to WinFuture, Bullitt’s plans included transferring the hardware division to a creditor-backed organization and focusing on the development of satellite communication devices.
The British phone manufacturer Bullitt held the commercial rights to produce and distribute durable phones with the Cat and Motorola logos, as well as a number of Land Rover-branded handsets. At MWC 2023, the company announced that it is collaborating with Mediatek to develop its own satellite connectivity solution.
The versatile, rugged smartphones have been appealing to individuals in need of a tough yet affordable device. Typical CAT owners were not looking to spend a significant amount on a Samsung XCover series, but also wanted to avoid Chinese brands such as Ulefone, Blackview, and Oukitel.
