The camera setup of the upcoming iPhone 16 will feature a new design, with the two sensors arranged vertically at the back of the device. This change appears to be taking inspiration from Samsung’s approach to camera setups, a departure from the diagonal arrangement seen in the iPhone 15.

Rumors about such a rearrangement have surfaced multiple times, and an image purported to be the camera chassis of the iPhone 16 validates this, showing the two cameras placed vertically rather than diagonally. The authenticity of this image has been confirmed by Twitter leakster Majin Bu, as well as independent industry sources, as reported by MacRumors. Sources have also indicated that this camera chassis is intended for use in the base model of the iPhone 16, set to be released in September this year.

This design change allows Apple to potentially introduce Spatial Video recording to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, suggesting that this update may serve a functional purpose rather than being merely influenced by Samsung’s camera design. Additionally, the iPhone 16 is expected to inherit the Action button from the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, along with an added Capture button featuring force-sensor technology and located on the right side of the device.
