Similar to the situation in 2022, Apple once again held 7 of the top 10 best-selling smartphones worldwide in 2023. What’s different this time is that the iPhones were ranked in order, with phones 1-7 exclusively being from Apple. The only other vendor present on the list was Samsung with three affordable Galaxy A-series devices.

Despite being launched in 2022, the iPhone 14 became the top-selling phone of 2023 with an estimated 3.9% of global smartphone shipments. Counterpoint also noted that the US and China accounted for half of the shipments of the iPhone 14. The iPhone 14 Pro Max and 14 Pro followed in second and third place, respectively, with 2021’s iPhone 13 coming in fourth.
The 15 Pro Max was the top-selling device in Q4,2023, claiming the fifth spot on the list, while the 15 Pro and the vanilla 15 followed in sixth and seventh place, respectively. Samsung’s Galaxy A14 5G, A04e, and A14 4G occupied the final three spots on the list.
Looking to the future, Counterpoint analysts anticipate a more diverse range of manufacturers in the top-ten list for 2024, with at least one Chinese OEM and 5G-only devices being included.
