During the Galaxy S24 Unpacked event last month, Samsung provided a sneak peek of the Galaxy Ring, but the official announcement has now revealed more details about this wearable device. Pricing and availability information will be disclosed later this year, but the first Galaxy smart ring has already generated a lot of interest.
The Galaxy Ring will come in US ring sizes 5 – 13, with sizes marked from S to XL on the inner side of the ring. Samsung has designed the ring with a concave shape that narrows in the middle, as opposed to the convex appearance of the Oura Ring. Available in ceramic black, platinum silver, and gold, the Galaxy Ring offers a variety of sleek colors to choose from.
Not only does the Galaxy Ring track heart rate, breathing rate, sleep, and night movements, but it can also detect early signs of sleep apnea. Samsung positions the Ring as a companion to the Galaxy Watch, enabling enhanced 24/7 health and activity tracking for users.
Additionally, the device calculates the user’s Vitality score based on a combination of daily activity, sleep patterns, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability. Users can establish specific wellbeing goals and monitor their progress through Booster Cards available in the Galaxy Health app.
At its initial launch, the Samsung Galaxy Ring will only be compatible with Samsung Galaxy smartphones, with plans to extend compatibility to more Android devices in the future.
