The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is coming to an end, and the Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO) has revealed its annual winners. Judges have given out 28 awards in 6 different categories, with four of them falling under the Device section:
- Best Smartphone: Google Pixel 8 series
- Breakthrough Device Innovation: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
- Best Connected Consumer Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra
- Best in Show: Honor Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones have clinched the prestigious Best Smartphone award, surpassing the likes of iPhone 15 Pro series, Galaxy S23 lineup, Z Flip5, and the OnePlus Open/Oppo Find N3. This award recognizes exceptional performance, innovation, and leadership in smartphones launched between January 2023 and December 2023.
In the Breakthrough Device Innovation category, the Magic V2’s silicon-carbon battery, Google’s commitment to 7 years of updates, and the AI imaging capabilities were all shortlisted. However, the judges ultimately decided that Qualcomm’s latest chipset deserved the award for significant hardware and software innovation within smartphone devices.
The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra emerged victorious amidst tough competition, including the Motorola Defy 2 with satellite communication, HTC Vive XR Elite, Huawei Watch Ultimate, and RayNeo Air2 XR Glasses.
The judges concluded that the Samsung tablet stood out as the top choice for its ability to offer the best consumer experience and functionality, both at home and on the go.
The Best in Show award went to the Magic V2 RSR Porsche Edition, which was officially introduced during the Honor keynote at the Congress. Although initially launched in China, its international debut in Barcelona on February 25 captured the attention of the global audience.
