Spotify has offered audiobooks for some time now, but without a dedicated plan. That changes today with the introduction of the new Audiobooks Access subscription tier. This tier costs $9.99 and provides access to 15 hours of audiobook listening.
While this may sound appealing, it’s worth noting that Spotify Premium is only $1 more at $10.99, providing the same 15 hours of audiobook listening, along with ad-free music and podcasts – a feature that is not included in the Audiobooks Access tier. Opting for Premium seems like the obvious choice if you also want to enjoy music without ads.
For those who have been eagerly awaiting an audiobooks-only plan, the wait is over.
According to Spotify, the introduction of audiobooks in Premium led to a “45% increase in free users searching for and interacting with audiobook content each day”, prompting the launch of the Audiobooks Access tier.
Currently, the Audiobooks Access tier is only available in the US, and Spotify’s audiobook library boasts over 200,000 titles.
