On National Women’s Day, we want to shine a spotlight on four remarkable women in Pakistan’s Automotive industry. In an industry typically dominated by men, these influential women have made their mark through dedication and perseverance.

Amna Mustabeen Baig – Engineer at Koenigsegg

Baig holds the distinction of being the first Pakistani woman to join Koenigsegg Automotives AB as a Supercar Automotive Engineer. Koenigsegg, a Swedish company renowned for its high-performance cars. She earned a Master’s in Business Management from the UK and a second Master’s in Supply Chain Management from Sweden. Prior to this, she gained three years of professional experience working for Volvo Trucks and Scania.

Dr. Sarah Qureshi – Scientist Who Developed Contrail-Free Engine

Dr. Sarah Qureshi, a Pakistani woman scientist and aerospace engineer, is the mastermind behind the first environmentally-friendly aircraft engine worldwide. This contrail-free innovation aims to transform the aviation industry by mitigating the negative impacts of carbon emissions from planes. Dr. Qureshi completed her engineering education at NUST and obtained her Ph.D. in Aerospace Propulsion from Cranfield University, UK. She returned to her homeland to establish the first commercial aerospace company in 2018, Aero Engine Craft.

Zenith Irfan – Pioneering Female Motorcyclist Across Pakistan

Zenith made history as the first woman to traverse Pakistan on her motorcycle. Originally from the UAE, she was bold and confident but uncertain of her dreams. Motorcycling wasn’t her passion initially; she started riding as it was the quickest way to get to university in Lahore. She learned biking from her brother Sultan, and together they embarked on a road trip to Khunjerab Pass, the border between China and Pakistan.

Uzma Nawaz – Pakistan’s First Female Mechanic

Our final spotlight is on Uzma Nawaz, challenging gender stereotypes as Pakistan’s first female mechanic. Hailing from Multan, she joined a Toyota dealership after completing her education. Her dedication and skill led her to excel in engine inspections and a range of mechanical tasks.
