The head-turning Tesla Cybertruck, known for its sharp angles and stainless steel shell, has encountered a minor hurdle. Two recent recalls address potential issues with the truck’s trunk bed trim and windshield wipers.

The first recall involves the decorative trim piece on the Cybertruck’s trunk bed. Nearly 11,400 vehicles might have this piece become loose or detach entirely while driving. This poses a safety risk to other drivers on the road, as the loose trim could turn into a flying road hazard, potentially causing accidents.

Faulty Windshield Wiper

The second recall tackles a potential problem with the windshield wiper motor controller in almost 11,700 Cybertrucks. A malfunction in this controller could lead to the wipers failing to work properly, especially during rain, snow, or other situations requiring good visibility. Reduced visibility due to inoperative wipers is a major safety concern and could significantly increase the risk of a collision.

Fortunately, there haven’t been any reported accidents or injuries related to either of these issues so far. Tesla is taking a proactive approach and will fix the problems for free for affected Cybertruck owners.

Trim Fix: Tesla will either replace the piece entirely or rework it to ensure it stays securely attached.

Wiper Fix: The solution for the windshield wiper problem is a straightforward replacement of the faulty motor controller.

Affected Cybertrucks owners can expect to receive notification letters in August. These letters will detail the specific issue with their vehicle and provide instructions on how to schedule a free repair appointment at a Tesla service center.

Recalls: A Standard Process Ensuring Vehicle Safety

These recalls come roughly seven months after the much-anticipated Cybertruck finally hit the market in late November 2023. Tesla is still ramping up production of the electric vehicle, and these recalls highlight some initial challenges they’re facing as they scale up production.

It’s important to remember that recalls are a standard process in the auto industry, and they demonstrate a manufacturer’s commitment to ensuring the safety of their vehicles.
