Every month, PAMA (Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association) releases its monthly sales report for motor vehicles. That report might be difficult for the average person to understand, but we’re here to make things easy for you. Here’s the blog on the best cars according to their monthly sales in the PAMA report. We’ll list them from highest to lowest sales.
Note: The sales figures are cumulative from June 2023 to May 2023.
Suzuki Alto (31,531 Sales)
We all knew that the Alto would be in the first place. The irony is that it’s the most criticized vehicle by Pakistanis—some call it “Peepa,” and some call it “Sabun daani”—and the same people have made the Alto the #1 vehicle in the Pakistani market in terms of sales.
Honda City and Honda Civic (10,519 Cumulative Sales)
The PAMA has reported their cumulative sales as 10,519 from June 2023 to May 2023. If we take the average, it means both Honda City and Honda Civic sold approximately 5,259 units each during this period. However, we’re sure that the City must have higher sales than the Civic, but since PAMA hasn’t provided the details, we can’t state this with certainty.
Toyota (Corolla, Yaris & Corolla Cross) (14,012 Cumulative Sales)
Toyota has taken third place in terms of YoY sales. The PAMA has mentioned the cumulative sales of the Corolla, Yaris, and Corolla Cross, which means the average sale of each vehicle was 4,670 during the period. Surprisingly, Honda has taken over Toyota’s sales, as a few years earlier, Toyota was way ahead of Honda in terms of sales. Maybe due to the extremely expensive pricing of the Corolla, people might be shifting towards the City.
Suzuki Swift (4,628 Sales)
Again, we got Suzuki on the list. The Swift is Suzuki’s top-of-the-line model with some good hi-tech goodies. Swift is usually bought by people who care about features rather than space, as It is the only reliable, good option that offers all the standard goodies for under 5 million PKR.
Suzuki Cultus (3,352 Sales)
Surprisingly, the Cultus is the last in terms of sales figures. Before 2022, CUltus was the 2nd most selling vehicle model after Alto and WagonR. However, due to the government’s immense taxes and import duties, Suzuki raised the Cultus prices to almost 180%. That’s why you are seeing Cultus as the last in terms of sales figures.
Suzuki WagonR (3,223 Sales)
Just like Cultus, Suzuki also increased the WagonR’s pricing by 180% in 2022, causing people to lose interest in the brand-new WagonR. Before 2022, WagonR was the second most selling car in Pakistan after Alto. However, currently, WagonR is not a popular option among buyers; they either buy a used car within a 3 million-dollar budget or go for Alto and save money.
These were the top 6 most selling cars in Pakistan. The list is long, so to make it shorter, we’ve mentioned the top 6 car models. Let us know which next listicle you want.
