Today was an exciting day for Pakistan’s automotive industry. The top car companies, including MG, Kia, Hyundai, and Changan, unveiled or launched their new offerings at the Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) 2024. Here is the complete list of all the cars introduced today.
BYD Seal and Atto3
The day started with the price announcement of BYD Seal and Atto3, which are:
- Seal (Dynamic) – Rs. 14,790,000
- Seal (Premium) – Rs. 16,990,000
Specs & Features – Seal and Atto3
D-segment sedan BYD Seal competes with the likes of Tesla Model 3 and embraces ‘Ocean aesthetics’ as the new design concept. Its sloping body shape makes its appearance sleeker, helping to improve performance. The distinctive double U-shaped headlamps and grille combine to form an X-shaped front end that exudes style and sportiness.
It also boasts “scales” toward the C-pillar and “gills” behind the front wheels, creating a flowing design that echoes the marine theme.
Moving inside, leather paired with an Alcantara finish and diamond stitching makes you feel luxurious. It comes with features like volume, AC, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, as well as a Swarovski-style crystal gear lever, which adds a premium vibe to the interior.
The center console has buttons for start/stop and parking. Moreover, Heated/ventilated front seats and a panoramic roof are some other perks.
The BYD Seal offers an impressive range of up to 570 km, powered by BYD’s 82.5 kWh Blade Battery. With rapid charging, it can go from 10% to 80% in just about 37 minutes. Additionally, the power outlet can be used to charge various household appliances.
Atto 3 is a fully electric C-category SUV that may compete with the successful Hyundai Tucson, KIA Sportage, and Changan Oshan X7. The car’s unique front grilles, bumpers, and rear profile design make it unique.
On the outer side, the front end has bi-projector LED headlamps and DRLs. The front grille has a fin-line structure to improve the vehicle’s aerodynamics. SS styling, radar, and a 360-degree camera are also included for the driver’s utility.
Highlighting the rear end, fins are added on the rear quarter glass, which comes with an added marine-styling feature. Besides, there are Atto 3 badging, parking sensors, and dot matrix taillights.
Once you slip into this car, there is a lot to inspire you. The major features include a neat combo of black and light blue with red stitching, bucket seats on the front, plenty of cabin room, Airplane cockpit-like styling with hard buttons, a futuristic steering wheel, a cluster panel with the highest visibility, and a panoramic sunroof. Other add-ons include an audio recognition feature, a rotating screen, a wireless charger, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a start/stop button. On the other hand, Airbags, Defogger, Parking Sensors, Collision Warning, and hand brakes make you feel safe and assist you.
MG HS PHEV
The second launch was the MG HS PHEV. The original HS was launched in 2021. This mid-size crossover has sold in big numbers, and while the iron is hot, multiple brands are introducing electrified cars. MG has also joined the trend with its all-new generation of MG HS PHEV. The impressive thing is its CKD production, which will keep the price competitive. It’s the new second-generation HS, not the old first-generation HS, that is currently being sold in Pakistan.
Considering its competitors like the H6 HEV and Santa Fe Hybrid, HS gives you one edge in PHEV technology, which results in a surprising fuel economy of 58 Km/l (as per the company).
The car itself is good. Cabin insulation is up to the mark, and due to wide tires and low roof height, body roll isn’t that much, but it’s present because it’s a crossover in the end. The only downside is the blindspots on the backside D-pillars, which might give you a tough time in the Pakistani road conditions.
Sit inside and hide the MG logo on the steering, and you’ll be confused if it’s a Chinese or a premium German vehicle. Attention to detail is impressive in this vehicle, and the cockpit’s built quality is really good. The seats are PU leather, the dashboard is soft to the touch, the steering is leather-wrapped, and the center console feels premium, inspired by European cars.
