Earlier today, we shared with you a rumor circulating that Apple would be unveiling new hardware this week through a press release only, without a formal event. And that prediction has come true. While there are no new iPads on the horizon, Apple has revealed its latest MacBook Air models – a 13-inch version and a 15-inch model. Both are key products for Apple, with the 13-inch MacBook Air holding the title of the world’s top-selling laptop and the 15-inch model leading in sales for its category.
Powered by Apple’s M3 chip, these laptops boast performance that is “up to 60%” faster than the M1 chip model and “up to 13x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air” from previous years.
The Retina Display offers up to 500 nits of brightness, support for 1 billion colors, the ability to connect to two external displays (when the lid is closed), and a resolution “up to 2x greater than comparable PC laptops”.
These laptops provide up to 18 hours of battery life, Wi-Fi 6E, two Thunderbolt ports, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a three-mic array, speakers compatible with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos, and Touch ID. They are offered in four colors: midnight (featuring “a revolutionary anodization seal to reduce fingerprints), starlight, space gray, and silver.
Available for pre-order today in 28 countries, these laptops will go on sale on Friday, March 8. The starting price for the 13-inch MacBook Air is $1,099, while the 15-inch model begins at $1,299. The 13-inch variant featuring the M2 chip remains available for $999.
