Apple has officially launched the final iterations of Music, TV, and Devices for Windows computers. These applications are now accessible for download on x86 devices that operate on Windows 10 or 11.
Apple Music
Earlier, Apple had introduced Music, TV, and Devices for Windows in a ‘Preview’ mode. These applications were exclusively available on Windows 11 and not Windows 10. However, with this latest release, the applications are no longer in preview mode and are accessible on both versions of the operating system.
Apple TV
Music, TV, and Devices are meant to replace iTunes, which still exists. Although Apple phased out iTunes for the Mac with macOS Catalina, it is still available on Windows and regularly receives updates. However, the app is outdated, lacks modern features, and is not user-friendly. This is where the new apps come into play.
Apple Devices
For instance, the Music app offers the same features as Apple’s own platforms, including access to lossless and high-resolution music, something iTunes does not offer. The TV app grants access to iTunes purchases and Apple TV+ streaming content in up to 4K HDR. The Devices app manages synchronization, backups, and updates for iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices.
It is uncertain how long Apple will continue to support iTunes for Windows. It might remain available for older Windows versions, but it is likely that it will eventually be phased out.
