Today, Apple has rolled out iOS 17.3 and iPadOS 17.3 for compatible devices. As usual, these updates should be accessible to all users without any delay tactics, unlike the approach taken in Google’s camp.
The latest iOS update introduces the Stolen Device Protection feature, which enhances security in case your device is stolen and the thief knows your passcode.
With Stolen Device Protection, accessing saved passwords and making changes to sensitive settings like the Apple ID password or device passcode requires Face ID or Touch ID. There is also a security delay for changing settings, where biometric authentication is needed after an hour, unless the iPhone is in familiar locations.
This feature seems like a no-brainer and is long overdue. Hopefully, it will inspire Google and Android manufacturers to develop a similar feature for their devices.
Furthermore, the update includes a new wallpaper and enables collaborative playlist creation with friends on Apple Music, along with the ability to add emoji reactions to tracks. AirPlay now supports streaming content directly to the TV in select hotels, and there have been optimizations for crash detection.
