According to a new report from industry sources in Korea, Apple’s inaugural foldable device may be released in 2026 or 2027. This device is expected to have an internal screen size ranging from 7-8 inches, potentially replacing the iPad mini in Apple’s product lineup, as suggested by rumors.

Despite this, the device’s specifications and features have not been finalized. Apple is also reportedly testing a new generation iPad mini with an OLED screen, which raises questions about the potential for a quick discontinuation in favor of the foldable device.

Additionally, reports indicate that Apple may introduce OLED screens to its iPad Pro line later this year, while an OLED iPad mini may not be released until next year.

Apple is said to be exploring foldable screen panels in different size ranges, including 6″ and 7″, provided by both Samsung Display and LG Display. However, there are indications that Apple may opt for a larger screen for its first foldable device.

If the foldable device moves forward, it is likely that Apple will initially source panels from Samsung Display, followed by LG Display a year later if Apple chooses a two-supplier strategy.

There are also reports that Apple may launch a larger 20.25″ foldable product around 2028, possibly branded as an iPad or Mac. This size refers to the internal, folding screen of the device.
