Both Samsung and Google heavily highlighted the integration of AI features in their latest smartphones, and now it’s Apple’s turn to join in. During the company’s financial report, Tim Cook announced that generative AI would be discussed “later this year.”

It’s reasonable to assume that these features will be unveiled at WWDC in the summer, with the iPhone 16 lineup expected to launch in September.

Apple hints generative AI could arrive on iPhone 16

Here’s what Tim Cook had to say about generative AI:

Regarding generative AI, which I assume is your focus, we’ve been doing a lot of internal work, as I’ve mentioned before. Our approach has always been to conduct the work first and then discuss it, rather than getting ahead of ourselves. So, we’re going to continue with that approach. However, we have some incredibly exciting things that we will be discussing later this year.

Code in iOS 17.4 indicates that Siri may utilize AI for summarization, smart replies in Messages, and AI integration across apps like Apple Music, Pages, and Keynote. The company is currently experimenting with various AI models, including on-device and internet-dependent options.
