Despite the lengthy crisis, the auto industry in Pakistan continues to face uncertainty. The car sector is at a critical point, and it is evident that economic stability will take a long time to arrive, which will continue to negatively impact the country’s already fragile car industry.

According to the most recent report from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), car sales declined by 10% month-on-month (MoM), with 5,816 vehicles sold last month, compared to 6,475 units sold in November 2023.

When comparing year-to-year (YoY) data, a significant 66% drop is observed, as car manufacturers sold only 17,012 cars during the same period last year.

Two Wheelers

Similarly, two-wheeler sales saw a significant decrease of 7% last month, with 82,362 units sold in Dec’23 compared to 88,493 units in November 2023.

Notably, sales for the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer ‘Atlas Honda’ dropped by 5%, reaching 72,096 units last month compared to 76,043 bikes in Nov’23. Conversely, Pak Suzuki’s sales increased by 33%, with 1,363 units sold last month compared to 1,028 in November 2023.

Trucks & Buses

The report reveals that truck and bus sales decreased by 29% month-on-month (MoM), with 74 trucks sold last month compared to 128 in November 2023. Meanwhile, 31 buses were sold in last month, an increase from 19 in Nov’23.

Company-Wise Sales Breakdown (MoM)

Toyota Pakistan saw a 28% increase in sales, selling 684 units last month compared to 956 vehicles in November 2023. (MoM Decline: -28%)

Surprisingly, Pak Suzuki Motors Company’s sales surged 7%, with 3,735 vehicles sold last month compared to 3,506 cars in Nov’23. Additionally, the company observed a 55% year-on-year sales increase. (MoM Growth: 7%)

Hyundai Nishat saw a significant downtrend of 43%, with 304 units sold last month compared to 532 units in November 2023. (MoM Decline: -43%)

It is important to note that Kia Lucky Motors, Master Changan Motors, Regal Motors, MG Motors, and Al-Haj Proton, as non-PAMA members, are not included in the report.

Car-Wise Sales Breakdown

Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company sold 2,099 units of Alto, 297 units of Suzuki Cultus, 409 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 378 units of Suzuki Swift, 326 units of Suzuki Bolan, and 226 units of Suzuki Ravi.

Toyota Indus sold 554 units of Corolla and Yaris, and 130 units of Fortuner and Hilux.

Honda Atlas sold 787 units of City and Civic, and 114 units of BR-V.

Hyundai Nishat sold 39 units of Elantra, 27 units of Sonata, 137 units of Porter, and 101 units of Tucson.
