Apple has a marketing strategy of discontinuing old iPhone Pro models when the new generation arrives. These older models are still available through third-party retailers, but choosing a refurbished unit could be a better option.
On Amazon UK, there are different tiers – “renewed” and “renewed premium”. Both come with a 1-year guarantee and technical support, but the “premium” version also guarantees that the battery will have at least 90% life remaining.
The 2022 flagships, iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro, are the last models with the Lightning port. The 14 Pro Max has a 77mm tele lens, while the 15 Pro Max has a longer 120mm lens (3x vs. 5x zoom). The new models also have a newer, faster chipset with 2 extra gigs of RAM. However, the 2023 models have higher prices – a new 15 Pro Max is £1,200 and the 15 Pro is £1,000.
