The Apple Vision Pro has been reviewed, revealing the specifications of its battery. When pre-orders launched, Apple only stated that the battery could last two hours of “general use” and 2.5 hours of video playback. Recent findings confirm that these estimates were quite accurate, if not slightly below expectations.
Despite this, there has been lingering curiosity surrounding the actual battery capacity. Rest assured, the mystery has been solved: it is 3,166 mAh. Considering its size and weight of 353g, its capacity may seem minimal; however, there’s a catch.

The impressive feature is its 13V 6A max output, far surpassing the capabilities of a typical 3.8V phone battery. If we were to equate a typical phone battery voltage with the equivalent 35.9 Wh, the capacity would be 9,440 mAh instead of the stated 3,166 mAh, leading one to think that it looks just like a 10,000 mAh power bank – and it is.
The Vision Pro’s battery is an external one, with a unique connector for attachment to the headset and a USB-C port for charging, which operates with a 30W wall charger. The proprietary connector utilizes a twist-to-lock mechanism for easy attachment without any hassle.
While Apple does sell additional battery packs for the Vision Pro at a price of $200 each, it’s important to note that these are not hot-swappable. When the cable is disconnected, the headset will power down, only rebooting once the new battery is connected.
The Vision Pro will be available in the US starting this Friday, February 2. Its launch in other countries is expected later this year.
