WagonR is an all-around family commuter who gets the job done. It’s a compact tiny hatchback with a super-efficient 1,000cc engine that does 14-16 Km/l, good AC, good interior storage spots, more than enough seating capacity for four people, and digestible built quality—all you expect from a compact entry-level hatchback.
But the problem is that it’s not cheap anymore. 3.2 million for the base variant isn’t affordable for any middle-class. Even if you manage to arrange 3.2 million for this car, it’ll never be a value-for-money vehicle. That’s why we’re here and bringing you a list of the best cars at the price of a new WagonR that are at least of value for money.
Price: 31-33 lacs
Honda City is an all-rounder sedan perfect for a mid-size family. It’s a proper entry-level sedan, and unlike WagonR, which looks like a box, Honda City, at least, looks like a proper car.
It’s a 1300cc i-Vtec engine that does 12-13 Kmpl with AC on in the city and 14-16 on long with AC on. The interior is all practical, although nothing fancy or hi-tech, but it gets the job perfectly done.
The drive quality is also great, and the suspension is better than WagonR in every way. As a sedan, it also has a big boot that can fit 3-4 full-size suitcases.
Although the maintenance cost is not as low as that of the WagonR, it is still affordable for most people who can afford this car.
Price: 27-29 lacs
The Toyota Aqua, also known as the Prius C, is a compact hybrid known for fuel efficiency and reliability. Its 1.5-liter hybrid engine delivers 20-24 km in the city and 13-15 km on highways, making it an economical choice for city rides.
Inside, the cabin is spacious and very practical, with user-friendly amenities without excessive frills. Although it’s a hatchback, trust us, its back seats are more roomy than those of the City and Yaris. Because of the body shape, the boot space, however, isn’t as good as that of a proper sedan car.
The only problem you might have is a hybrid battery issue. Because it’s a 10- 11-year-old car, the hybrid batteries might need replacement, which would cost about 150k.
Price: 31-33 lacs
Reborn and Rebirth are both cars that everyone loves in the car community. Reborn is also great, but that would be too much older, so Rebirth is the perfect alternative for the price of the new WagonR.
First of all, you should note that the upfront costs of WagonR and Rebirth are equal, but there’s a huge difference in their costs. WagonR is light on the pocket, has cheap maintenance, no breakdowns on the road, and has superb economy.
Rebirth isn’t like that: a 1.8-liter Vtec gas-guzzler engine, expensive maintenance, and because it’s 10 years old, regular breakdowns are also possible. Therefore, it’s not a car if you can’t afford expensive maintenance costs.
But, one thing we can say for sure is that this car will surely give you enjoyment when you drive it, especially when the Vtec kicks in, WagonR won’t give this pleasure!
Price: 30-32 lacs
Here comes the Corolla, the car everyone knows and trusts. The GLi is practically the definition of reliability and durability. With a 1300cc VVTi engine that doesn’t guzzle fuel (13-14 Kmpl economy with AC on in the city), it’s a fuss-free car, whether you’re commuting in the city or taking the highway on the long route.
It may not be a luxury sedan, but it gets the job done without a hitch. Plus, maintenance is affordable, and parts are readily available almost anywhere in Pakistan. We think it’s perfect for those who need a dependable, hassle-free ride. And while it may not have the latest tech, it’s a solid, no-nonsense car that will likely keep running without a single complaint for at least 300k Km.
Price: 28-29 lacs
The Honda Fit is a hybrid hatchback known for its practicality and fuel efficiency just like the Aqua. A 1.5-liter engine, it delivers around 18-21 kmpl in the city and 14-18 kmpl on the highway.
The interior is spacious, with flexible seating. Due to its body shape, this hatchback gives more than enough cargo space, so you can fit about one full size and one small size suitcase.
The AC performance is also good, the sound system is decent, and the overall cabin space is just a bit more than that of the Yaris and Alsvin. The dashboard is exactly like the new Honda City, so you’ll not feel like you’re driving a 10-year-old car, and it’s an automatic car as well with a Vtec engine.
