Suzuki Every, a newly added locally assembled car in our automobile market. A micro-van by Suzuki that aims to target families who have a lot of small kids and are probably looking for a budget option under 30 lacs. Now, that’s the option in a brand new segment. Let’s see some of the options that you can get in the used market for the same price tag as a brand new Every.
Budget:15-18 lacs
Under 18 lacs, Swift is the best hatchback you can get. Unlike Cultus, which gives competition to a microwave, Swift is a lot better than it.
This budget Mini Cooper comes with a 1.3-liter DOHC engine, also known as a gas guzzler engine, because it will not give you more than 12 Kmpl of fuel economy. On the other hand, performance-wise, it’s a nightmare for Cultus and WagonR owners, as this Swift can gap Corolla 1.3 and City 1.3 due to its good power-to-weight ratio.
The DLX upper trim comes with electric side mirrors, which is beyond the understanding of WagonR owners. The back seats are as comfortable as Honda City, and road stability is a lot better than other options in this budget, unlike WagonR, which wobbles like a bicycle above 80 Km/h.
Budget: 18-20 lacs
The Civic Reborn, a car with zero haters. It got a 1.8-liter R18 engine that won’t even let a Corolla vibe near it and we suggest you buy a petrol pump first if you’re planning to buy this car, because it does no more than 7-8 Kmpl with AC.
The Interior is inspired by a fighter jet, and although it’s a decade-old model, it still outperforms the latest Corolla X in aesthetics and looks. Specifically, the digital speed-o-meter that is beyond the understanding of Corolla owners.
Suspensions are smooth, unlike the Corolla, which crashes into every bump, and the backseats are super comfortable, and three adults can easily do a long tour on its backseats.
Caution: This Reborn pulls in rainwater like a thirsty person drinking water.
Budget: 15-17 lacs
Now, if you visit Pakwheels, you might see ads for this model and people demanding 20 lacs for it. That’s because most of those people aren’t serious about selling their cars on Pakwheels. They just bluff on classified platforms. If they get a good offer, then fine; otherwise, there is nothing to lose for them. We strongly recommend that you buy this City model within our recommended budget and avoid the bluff of classified ads. You can also visit any local offline dealer to find a genuine party who wants to sell their car at a good price.
Talking about the car itself, it’s great. You get a good diggi with more than enough cargo space and a very spacious interior space with comfortable ride quality. The problem is that City iDSI is a very old model, so you better do some research in the market and find a carefully driven vehicle.
The engine is a 1.3-liter iDSI that easily achieves 12-14 Kmpl if maintained properly. With AC, it can achieve 11-13 Kmpl. Due to its age, you may need to do an overhaul and suspension work if the previous owner has not done so + some other tiny works, you know, old car things.
Budget: 14-16 lacs
People say Liana is not a good car; that’s a 100% myth with no reality. Liana is a super solid machine, and its engine easily goes to 180,000 km if driven carefully. The problem is with the owners. Being an old car, if the owner doesn’t drive it carefully, it will, of course, cause problems.
However, if you manage to find a 2011-12 model that’s been driven carefully, it will be a good decision. First of all, it’s a 1.6-liter, and of course, it’s Suzuki, so the economy is not an issue (12-13 Kmpl with AC in the city).
Additionally, it’s a proper C-segment sedan like the Civic and Corolla, with good cabin and trunk space and all basic necessities, including power steering, power windows, and practical dashboard space. Overall, we think it’s a nice family car if you don’t bother much about the resale factor.
Budget: 20-22 lacs
The F is Vitz’s base lineup. It has a 1.0-liter engine with a superior fuel economy of 14-16 Kmpl. Although interior-wise, it’s not that great and has a very boring circular styling, WagonR’s interior is good in comparison, to be honest.
The backseats are not as spacious as those in the segment; Swift is a better option in this case. However, cabin insulation and drive quality are unmatchable with local options like microwave WagonR, which feels like a Chingchi above 80 Km/h.
The parts are relatively cheap compared with other JDM options in this budget, and resale is also great due to Toyota’s badge and Vitz’s good market. But, to be honest, we suggest a local Swift 2010 model rather than this Vitz unless you only want a JDM option.
