We all know how overpriced the Suzuki Alto is. You spent atleast Rs. 24 lacs on it, and still, you don’t receive any safety, no power, no enjoyment, and just a piece of tin that gets you from point A to B. That doesn’t seem to justify the price; Rs. 24 lacs is too much for what Alto gives you. If you think the same way, we’re here for you. Below, we’ll list some of the best alternatives that you can buy for the price of Suzuki Alto VXL AGS or even cheaper than that.
The price depends on the model year and the condition of the car, but we’re sure enough that you can find a good 2009 model Reborn for Rs. 20-22 lacs. We know its running cost and fuel cost are much higher than Alto’s, but at least you will get a car that you’ll enjoy while driving.
Being a decade and half old model, its interior and outer looks still don’t give old model looks from any side. For Rs. 21 lacs and a decade-old car, you are getting a 1.8-liter i-Vtec engine that goes to a max speed of 215 Km/h, digital speed-o-meter, climate control AC (upper trim) sedan diggi (trunk), and much, much better comfort and drive quality than Alto, almost no comparison.
Again, everything has a price, and here’s the price: fuel economy. Reborn only gets about 8-10 Kmpl, so keep that in mind.
If Reborn’s fuel economy doesn’t appeal to you, but you want to keep the practicality and spacious interior, City might be what you’re looking for. You can definitely find a good 2011-12 model for Rs. 21 lacs and Aspire 1.3 for Rs. 25 lacs.
The fuel economy ranges from 11-13 Kmpl for a 130cc variant with AC on. The car is practical and good enough for a small family with two kids and three adults. The drive quality is also good, and the suspensions are smooth enough for city rides.
Vitz is a good hatchback if you prefer a JDM option. It’s budget-friendly, and with its dinky 1,000cc engine, its fuel economy is also superb, almost close to Mehran’s economy. The cabin space is fine, and it is good for a small family.
The drive quality and cabin insulation are also superb, considering its price. This hatchback’s economy ranges between 12-14 Kmpl. Due to the Japanese model, the price may be a bit expensive, but Kaabli ones would be a wise option for this car. The 2007-11 model can easily be found for Rs. 18-21 lacs PKR.
Suzuki Swift is also another option to consider if you are specifically looking for a hatchback and don’t want to go with a decade-old model. Power-wise, Swift is far better than City 1.3 and Corolla 1.3, mainly due to its lighter body. The built quality is also solid, and it doesn’t look cheap from any side when you get inside this vehicle.
The AC performance is also good and the overall interior language is also decent and sophisticated, simple and minimal. The only thing that is compromised in this car is the economy; due to 1.3-liter engine, it only does 11-13 Kmpl, and that’s why it’s price is considerably low in the market.
WagonR is also another good option if you only need a car with low running costs and good fuel economy, i.e., the economy of WagonR is 13-14.5 Kmpl in the city. Swift is also a good option with better looks than WagonR, but its fuel economy is the only downside. WagonR, although not good in looks and looks like a chubby box, is easy on the pocket. The interior, however, seems good and spacious for a small family. The build is not perfect, but it is fine enough, at least much better than Alto. A good condition WagonR 2015-17 model can be found for Rs.19-22 lacs.
