MG Motors has recently introduced an updated version of the MG ZS EV, which comes with a price increase and several changes to its overall appearance. Let’s explore the features in detail to compare both models.
Overview
The new MG ZS EV has a larger and more C-segment crossover look compared to the previous version, which appeared more like a subcompact SUV. The original model, launched in 2021, only had basic trim options. However, the facelift now offers two variants: MCE and Long range.
MG ZS Old Vs. New Exterior
The previous model had projector headlamps and a boxy front grille in a galaxy design, while the new version features a modern muscular grille integrated with projector headlamps. It also includes a charging port, 360-degree camera, battery cooling inlets, and radar on the front bumper. The older ZS had turbine-style alloy wheels, while the new one has similar wheels with an aerodynamic plate on top. Both variants have the same character lines, keyless entry, modern rear design, diffuser, manually operated tailgate, and indicators on the side mirrors.
Interior Comparison
The facelift model offers a premium feel with a carbon-fibre-styled dash and leather stitching on the steering wheel. The digital style cluster panel is a significant upgrade from the former analog style. The new model includes push start, a 10-inch LED screen with various options, enhanced climate control, a 12V USB outlet, wireless charger, and Android Auto, whereas the older model only had a USB outlet.
The ZS EV has a single-speed transmission with Forward Wheel Drive and a regenerative braking system for improved range. The latest model features three driving modes and a real-time range display on the LED screen. It also includes a 6-way power adjustable driving seat, panoramic roof, and hand bars in the front.
Safety and Mileage
The updated ZS model comes with 6 airbags and various ADAS features, such as RCTA, Bicycle-cross alert, Lane Keep, and Lane Assist, among others.
The MCE variant has a 51kWH battery, providing a city range of 350 km, while the long-range variant has a 72kWH battery, offering an impressive 400 km range. In comparison, the previous model had a 45kWH battery with a range of only 300 km.
