Facelift Upgrades

Now let’s discuss the major upgrades in the exterior, interior, and performance of the Corolla Cross facelift.

Exterior

The company has introduced redesigned bi-LED headlights with sequential indicators mated with a slimmer upper grille. Furthermore, the front grille has been upgraded to honeycomb perforations and blends into fake intakes at the sides.

The GR Sport variant features several updates, such as a unique front grille, two-tone paint job, clear-lens rear lights, lower garnish on the rear bumper, and GR/GR Sport emblems. It also has a performance chassis brace and stiffer suspension. Moreover, all three variants come with 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/50 tires—the rims in the 1.8L and standard 1.8 HEV have a dark grey metallic finish, while the GR Sport has two-tone wheels.

Toyota Malaysia is offering five exterior colors, i.e., Red Mica Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Silver Metallic, Celestite Grey Metallic (HEV only), and Dark Turquoise. The GR Sport has a black roof with Platinum White Pearl, Dark Turquoise, and Red mica Metallica.

Interior

The GR Sport variant has a “Sport ECU” for the electric power steering. The petrol variant gets a 4.2-inch color MID, and the hybrids have 12.3-inch screens with tree layouts, four visual designs, and rear-time hybrid-specific displays.

The Infotainment size is a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The biggest interior upgrade is an electronic parking brake with auto hold, replacing the old foot-operated parking brake. All three variants have a powered tailgate, which is activated by placing a foot under the rear bumper.

Performance

In HEV variants, the car has a nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery pack, which supplies two electric motors to assist the 1.8L four-cylinder engine. The combined power generation is 120hp and 163 Nm of torque, mated with E-CVT (specially designed for hybrids) and Front-Wheel Drive (FWD).
