The ongoing monsoon rains and floods that began on July 1 have brought havoc in various parts of Balochistan. At least 19 people were killed, 11 were injured, 433 houses were completely or partly destroyed, and 3000 were affected due to the heavy rain and flooding, as reported by PDMA (Provincial Disaster Management Authority). 

PDMA’s official Yunus Mengal informed that this intense rainfall has affected 16 districts of Balochistan.  However, the relief work is ongoing for these districts. “Balochistan has had two severe monsoon periods since July 1, Mengal stated.

Details Of Flood Event 

In a video circulating on social media, a devastating incident of heavy flood unfolds before our eyes. The video claimed the incident occurred in the district of Qila Abdullah. A driver named Muhibbullah rescued a vehicle trapped in the massive flood. Operating the excavator, he successfully saved the car from being swept away by a flash flood originating from Toba Achakzai. “This local driver saved the lives of five people, including a man, his wife and three children.” You can watch the video below:

Furthermore, in the News, the victim, Abdul Walli, stated that they were returning from the hospital when the event took place. 

Appraisal For The Driver

Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, admired and praised the driver’s bravery. He said,Those who save society selflessly are our real heroes.” Moreover, Mir Sarfraz, on Monday, August 19, 2024, announced a certificate of appreciation and cash reward for the heroic driver. “The driver demonstrated courage and bravery by this selfless act of saving the lives of five people,” he added.  

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Qila Abdullah also facilitated the driver with cash prize and certificate.
