The upcoming Nothing Phone (2a) is set to be equipped with a custom Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset developed in collaboration with MediaTek. According to Nothing, this new chipset will deliver an 18% increase in performance compared to Phone (1) while consuming 16% less power. The chip is manufactured using TSMC’s second-generation 4nm process, a decisive factor for Nothing over considering alternatives such as Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets like the 782G and 7s Gen2 for the Phone (2a).
The Dimensity 7200 Pro boasts an eight-core CPU with 2x Arm Cortex-A715 clocked at 2.8 GHz, and 6x Arm Cortex-A510. A leaked AnTuTu listing for the device has revealed a total score of 738,164 points. Additionally, Nothing is promoting its new Smart Clean optimization feature to enhance read and write speeds.
Nothing is also highlighting the improved integration between the chipset and Nothing OS software, as well as reduced power consumption for components like the display and modem. The company has also enhanced data transfer speeds between Phone (2a) and Windows PCs through optimizations made on the Dimensity 7200 Pro chip.
The official announcement for Nothing Phone (2a) is scheduled for March 5.
