Just a few years ago, owning an electric vehicle (EV) in Pakistan was a luxury reserved for the few. High import taxes made it a costly for most car enthusiasts. However, the landscape has shifted dramatically, with local assemblers embracing electric vehicles and introducing exciting new models to the market.
In September 2024, Changan made a significant splash by launching two EVs, the Deepal S07 and L07. Following closely behind, BYD, a global leader in electric vehicles, entered the Pakistani market. Dewan Motors also joined the fray, launching its first locally assembled electric vehicle, the Honri Ve EV.
Now, Regal Motors has secured an EDB license to locally assemble the Seres 3 EV, marking another major milestone for Pakistan’s electric vehicle industry. The Seres 3 is going to be the first electric SUV to be produced in Pakistan, further expanding the range of options available to consumers.
