German car giant Mercedes-Benz is stretching its lineup from convention engines to electric realm in India. New year is around the corner and the company is gearing up to commence it with a style while bringing luxury sustainability together in the country.

The car maker is poised to bring the most expensive electric beauty to the Indian market on January 9, 2025. This electric SUV based on the flagship G-Class segment (G 580) will utilize ladder frame chassis. The journey concluding next year was initially embarked as an EQG concept  at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

It is related to mention that the company will launch the Completely-Built Unit (CBU) of the SUV which simply means that it will fall in the imported lineup of the vehicles. Moreover, the Indian market is expecting a fewer number of electric G-Wagons and this number will remain the same each year.

Specs & Features

Since this vehicle will enter the Indian electric market as the high-end e-SUV specified for the opulent class, it is obvious to expect it to be highly loaded with advanced features and specifications. Coming inside, the cabin will flaunt the traits like  dual-screen 12.3-inch infotainment system, entertaining screens for rear passengers, driver display with Apply Carplay, Android Auto, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) technology, Burmester sound system, 360-degree camera and many more.   

Power & Performance

Concerning the power of this electric G-Class, the auto maker has put all its efforts to match power with the style and class of this beast. It will come with a quad-motor AWD electric drivetrain. Meaning, four electric motors, each motor specified for each wheel, allowing the power and torque to reach a massive 579 bhp and 1,164 Nm with electronically controlled speed of 180kmph. 

With this eye-popping power, the car will be able to accelerate from standstill to 100kmph in just fewer than five secondssomething close to lightning-quick-speed. Powered by a 116kWh underfloor battery pack, the electric SUV boasts a range of up to 473km on a single charge.

Pricing

As mentioned earlier, this electric G-class will be revealed as a CBU vehicle, no doubt, it will cost more compared to CKD units. G-class SUV with petrol engine in India is priced in the range of INR 2.50 crore (PKR 82,000,475). However, the price of an electric SUV is likely to reach INR 3 crore (PKR 98,400,570).  

The German car giant has already launched the electric G-class in the European market, with prices starting from €142,621.
