Upcoming later this year, Google’s Tensor G4 SoC is set to power the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and potentially even the Pixel Fold 2. A recent report from Korea supports an earlier rumor stating that the G4 will be produced by Samsung’s foundry using the 4nm process.

According to reports, the Tensor G4 is expected to offer improved heat management, enhanced performance, and greater efficiency. These upgrades indicate a significant improvement over the G3, which was not particularly acclaimed for any specific feature.

Interestingly, the Exynos 2400, featured in the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ this year, may have attracted more customers to Samsung’s foundry due to its positive reception. While some speculate that the Exynos 2400 surpassed low expectations, the exact reason for its popularity is less important than the potential boost it provides to Samsung’s foundry.

In the tech industry, figures like Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg and Open AI CEO Sam Altman are expressing interest in reducing reliance on Taiwanese TSMC for chip production, as TSMC currently holds about 50% market share. Samsung appears to be ready and willing to assist in diversifying chip manufacturing sources.
