The X100 Pro from vivo is already an impressive camera phone, one of the top models released recently. However, the Chinese company is not satisfied with just that – they are determined to take things further. According to Huang Tao, the vice president of Product at vivo, the company is currently developing a new smartphone that aims to be “a professional camera that can also make calls” (translated from Chinese).

Expected to be called the X100 Ultra, this device is generating a lot of buzz on Weibo under the codename Thanos. The vivo executive expressed gratitude on the Chinese social network for the high level of interest in the upcoming smartphone and confirmed that the X100 Ultra will be launched soon, possibly as early as next month.

If the goal is indeed to create a “professional camera” with smartphone capabilities, then we are eager to see and test it. vivo has proven its ability to produce exceptional camera phones, and if the X100 Ultra represents the pinnacle of their achievements, we are all here for it.

Speculations suggest that the X100 Ultra may feature a Quad HD+ E7 AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The device is rumored to include a 50 MP main camera with Sony’s Lytia LYT-900 sensor, as well as ultrawide, telephoto, and a 200 MP periscope telephoto with 100mm equivalent focal length for 4.3x optical zoom and 200x digital zoom. Additionally, the handset is expected to offer satellite connectivity.
