Ferrari, the Italian sports car manufacturer, has recently launched its new hypercar, the Ferrari F80. This hypercar is actually the successor of the iconic Le Ferrari. Fans were eagerly waiting after watching the camouflage prototypes throughout the year. Last week, the company dropped a video showing a car with the codename “F250” covered under the red hood.
This flagship hypercar was officially unveiled last week.
Exterior Design And Features
Ferrari F80 has a low-slung, aggressive, and aerodynamic profile that helps reduce drag and maintain stability.
Its design is similar to the 499P. However, the earlier prototypes used faulty exhaust and fake panels. The camouflage seems to be flat with a large rear wing. In addition, this hypercar has butterfly doors that regulate the airflow into the engine compartment.
If we talk about its aerodynamic features, it seems Ferrari has taken the cue from Formula 1 cars. The nose combined with Ferrari’s S-duct provides a tremendous 1014 pounds of downforce at 155 miles/hour ( 249.44 km/h) on the front end separately.
Furthermore, the hypercar’s active wing and a 71.0-inch diffuser offer 1300 pounds of downforce at the rear. It produces up to 2204 pounds of downforce, identical to the McLaren W1’s 2205 pounds at 174 mph (280.0 km/h).
Interior Of Ferrari F80
Ferrari F80 has a square-shaped steering wheel with a Maneetino dial on the right side. It helps drivers switch between modes, i.e., Wet, Sport, Race, CT off, and ESC off. On the left side, there are three power train modes: hybrid, performance, and qualifying.
The car has a seating layout of 1+1, which means the driver sits ahead of the passenger. Additionally, the design of this cockpit reduces the space and makes it 50mm narrower, but easily adjusts the two adults. The driver’s seat is adjustable and made up of Rosso Alcantara, a soft red material that offers comfort to the drivers. On the other hand, it has a non-adjustable passenger seat finished in black.
F80’s Powertrain And Performance
This new flagship, dubbed the “F80,” comprises a 3.0-liter V6 engine with a 120-degree hot-v engine taken from the 296 and 499P Le Mans race cars. Moreover, the Ferrari F80 consists of a hybrid powertrain with an electric motor that increases its horsepower from 900 hp to a total horsepower output of 1200 hp.
Its hybrid powertrain allows it to operate in electric mode only for urban driving, where emissions are prohibited. Plus, Ferrari has also introduced “boost optimization technology” that helps to improve engine performance and deliver power quickly.
In addition, the car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.15 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 217 mph (349.2 km/h).
Ferrari F80’s Price
Ferrari F80 costs €3.6 million or about $4 million, which is double of the W1 price.
