Every year, Fortune compiles a list of the most respected companies worldwide, and for 17 consecutive years, Apple has claimed the top spot. The list encompasses 1,500 companies, with 1,000 of them being based in the US and 500 being non-US firms. All of these companies have an annual revenue of at least $10 billion.
Out of the 1,500 companies, Fortune narrowed down the top earners to a list of 680. Approximately 3,700 executives, directors, and analysts were then tasked with evaluating each company in various categories such as investment value, management quality, and social responsibility.
Once again, Apple emerged as the leader, excelling in social responsibility, financial stability, innovation, and global competitiveness. The tech giant, headquartered in Cupertino, was followed by Microsoft and Amazon. Microsoft climbed to second place this year, dominating the computer software industry, while Amazon, despite slipping a spot, received high scores in internet services and retail.
It’s worth noting that Apple’s score of 8.19 this year was slightly lower than last year’s 8.65.
