As we mentioned earlier, this Pakistan Auto Show, scheduled for October 25, 2024, will feature a number of new cars, stretching the options for petrol heads to hybrid and PHEVs to EV lovers. New hybrid variants of Kia Sportage, Sorento, and Hyundai Elantra are reported to bring a perfect merge of elegance and technology at PAPS 2024.
Moreover, MG Pakistan has also decided to extend its HS lineup, adding plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant to it. And we have, as always, provided all the necessary details regarding these upcoming vehicles.
In a recent event, Changan Pakistan has also joined the league. The company has posted a teaser image of its mini-EV, “Lumin,” which is all set to be unveiled at PAPS 2024. It is related that the Chinese carmaker launched “Lumin” in the international market back in April 2022.
Changan Pakistan has not disclosed details translating features and specification of its car coming in the town soon. However, here are international specs of the mini-EV.
Features & Specifications
Engine and Performance
The Lumin was initially available with two LFP battery options: 12.92 kWh and 17.65 kWh. These batteries provide a range of 155 km and 210 km, respectively. Later, a 27.99 kWh battery option was introduced, offering a range of 301 km.
Powering the Lumin is a single electric motor (FWD) that generates 30 kW (41 hp). A more powerful 35 kW (48 hp) motor option will also be available. While these power figures may seem modest, they are well-suited for a city car and offer a peppy and efficient driving experience.
Exterior Design
The Lumin Corn boasts a charming and rounded exterior design. Circular LED lights, pop-out door handles, and aerodynamic wheel covers add to its modern and stylish appeal. The EV’s dimensions of 3270/1700/1545 mm with a wheelbase of 1980 mm make it easy to maneuver in tight spaces.
Interior Features
Step inside the Lumin Corn, and you’ll find a surprisingly spacious and well-appointed interior. The center console features a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen with simple and intuitive graphics. It offers navigation, phone, music, radio, and autonomous driving functions.
The Lumin Corn’s center console features a rotary gear shifter and a button for selecting driving modes. There are only two available modes: Eco (E) and Sport (S).
The seats in the Lumin Corn are upholstered with fine fabrics and offer a comfortable ride. However, they can only be adjusted manually. For added safety, the Lumin Corn also includes ISOfix fixing points for child car seats.
When the second row of seats is folded down, the Lumin Corn’s trunk offers a cargo capacity of 104 liters, providing ample space for luggage or groceries.
The steering wheel is sporty and features a flat bottom, providing a comfortable grip. Behind the steering wheel, you’ll find a small instrument panel that displays essential information such as speed, battery charge, range, and energy consumption rate.
