According to a blog post by the company, Google Pay app will no longer be available in the United States after June 4, 2024. Users are advised to switch to Google Wallet as the standalone version of the application is being discontinued.
Once the app is removed, features such as P2P payments, finding offers and deals, and managing the balance in the platform will no longer be accessible. However, the app will still be available in other markets like India and Singapore.
Google has disclosed that Google Pay is widely used in over 180 countries, particularly on desktops for ChromeOS, macOS, and Windows PC. On mobile, it is part of the Google Wallet ecosystem with separate apps for Android and iOS.
Wallet is a secure service that stores payment cards, transport passes, state IDs, and driver’s licenses, and it is used five times more than the Pay app in the United States. Users with a balance in their application are encouraged to transfer the funds to a bank account before June 4. Additionally, finding the best deals will be integrated into Google Search, with users in the US having a dedicated Deals section.
