Overview and technical details

This year’s beginning has witnessed great advancements in the mid-range smartphone category. The updated versions are equipped with more powerful camera setups, enhanced chipsets from Qualcomm, and improved displays. The most significant upgrade for the Realme 12 Pro+ is undoubtedly seen in the camera hardware.

The new Realme now features a proper telephoto camera, a periscope lens with 3x zoom, which is quite a rare feature in this price segment. With the launch price increasing by INR 2,000, it remains to be seen if the European price will also see a raise.

Perhaps in order to include the pricier 64MP periscope telephoto camera, Realme had to make compromises with the main camera, replacing the 200MP shooter with a 50MP one with a slightly smaller sensor. The third auxiliary 8MP ultrawide camera remains unchanged.

Realme 12 Pro+ review

The device retains its sleek design with vegan leather and the 5,000 mAh battery, albeit with a downgrade to 67-watt charging from the 100W charging last year.

It appears that Realme had to make some compromises to accommodate new features, including the periscope telephoto camera. We will further explore any noteworthy changes that may not be immediately evident from the specs sheet.
