A new imaging system is being introduced by Tecno with the Camon 30 Premier 5G. It combines Sony image sensors, a Sony ISP chip, and Tecno AI algorithms under the name “PolarAce”.

The phone’s emphasis on photography and video is evident from its design inspired by cameras. The metal frame provides rigidity and a premium feel, as well as assisting with cooling.

The back of the phone features a grippy faux leather texture and a unique “zoom ring” design around the circular camera island. The off-center placement of the island and the chamfered area beside it enhance ergonomics by providing a stable grip without obstructing the lens.

Focusing on the cameras, the main module uses a Sony IMX890 sensor with 1.0µm pixels. It is accompanied by a 70mm periscope with a 50MP sensor for zooming up to 60x, portrait shots using AI, and macro photography. Additionally, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor completes the rear camera setup.

A red light in the corner of the camera island serves as a recording indicator and charging light, while also activating when using the voice assistant. An LED flash is located on the opposite side of the camera island.

Turning to the front, a 6.77″ OLED display with a resolution of 1,264 x 2,780px is present. This LTPO panel, a first for Tecno’s non-foldable phones, offers outdoor visibility up to 1,400 nits.

The punch-hole front camera features a 50MP sensor with eye tracking and autofocus. The flat display aligns with modern design trends, as do the flat metal sides of the phone. Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, a USB-C port, and an IR blaster can also be found on the device.

The phone is powered by the Dimensity 8200 Ultra chipset with 12GB of RAM and 512GB storage. A 5,000mAh battery with 70W fast charging capabilities is housed within the 162.7 x 76.2 x 7.9mm dimensions of the phone.

The Camon 30 series, with the Premier model as the flagship, will be released by Tecno soon. Additionally, two more models were showcased at the company’s booth.
