The Xiaomi 14 Ultra finally made its debut on the global stage at the MWC 2024 show floor as promised. Our time with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra at the event provided us with some initial impressions to share.
Speaking of its dimensions, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is quite a hefty device. It features a large 6.73-inch display, a generous 5,300 mAh battery, and an expanded vapor chamber to cool the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. With a size of 161.4 x 75.3 x 9.2 mm and weighing just under 230 g, it’s a substantial device.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra comes in three standard colors, with two featuring faux leather on the back in black or white, and the third in blue with Dragon Crystal. Additionally, there’s a Titanium Special Edition exclusive to China. The weights of the standard versions range from 224.4g to 229.5g.
A black unit of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra felt solid and dense at the event, with a reassuringly rigid build. Despite its weight, the device is well-designed and comfortable to hold, thanks to its rounded corners and ergonomic shape.
The device’s faux leather material is of high quality, providing a premium feel with a fine texture pattern. Xiaomi claims that this material is more tear-resistant in this iteration.
On the display front, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra retains the same 6.73-inch 1440x3200px LTPO AMOLED panel with 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support. The display is brighter at 3,000 nits and now features Shield Glass for improved durability and clarity.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s display, known as the All Around Liquid display, features subtle curves on all edges, providing a sleek look and comfortable handling.
The standout feature of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is its large circular camera setup. The device maintains its quad camera system with enhancements, including improved sensors and wider apertures for better low-light performance.
Running on Android 14 with Xiaomi HyperOS, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra offers an optimized user experience with minor visual and functional changes compared to MIUI.
Available in Blue, Black, and White, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is priced at €1,499 for the 16 GB/512 GB variant.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to test the upgraded Photography Kit accessory for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra at the event, but we look forward to exploring it further in our upcoming full review.
