As we already told you, BYD is going to introduce three models into Pakistan: Atto 3, Seal, and Sealion 6. Sealion 6 is the only PHEV on the list; the other two are all-electric vehicles.
Upon doing the research, we think Haval H6 is its best competitor, specs-wise. Both are of Chinese origin HEV crossovers that beat many entry-level German and JDM crossovers. According to our POV, if you don’t mind the resale factor of the Chinese brand, then both Sealion 6 and H6 HEV are the best options that money can get you.
Here’s the comparison:
Haval H6 HEV and BYD Sealion 6 PHEV | Editor’s POV
Haval, the subsidiary brand of GWM, and BYD, is one of China’s biggest auto manufacturers, producing some of the great value-for-money cars. It’s not like some newbie EV brand that nobody knows, both are trusted and have a strong background.
Talking about the quality of their products, we must say Haval and BYD both produce good-quality cars with solid build quality, much better than our local big three companies. Haval is about a six-year-old brand, and we’ve not seen any reviewer or owner complain about the built quality of H6 and Jolion in these six years. The only downside of these Chinese brands is the resale factor. They do have a market, but it may take some time to sell a Chinese-branded car compared to JDM options.
But still, our editor’s choice is Haval H6 HEV over any other imported and local option. It’s value for money and gives you a good premium drive quality experience that used JDM options offer in 1.7-1.8 crore PKR + you get an official 3s warranty from the brand as well, which used JDMs don’t get you.
BYD Sealion 6 is indeed a solid car, but we can’t say anything about it because we don’t know the price. If it’s launched under 1.5 crore PKR, then it’s a good value-for-money deal, but above 1.5 crore PKR, our recommendation will stumble 50/50.
