Half a year has elapsed since the Honor Magic V2 was launched in China, and now the phone has finally made its way to Europe with an event on Friday. Honor attempted to expedite the European launch of the phone, but it actually took longer compared to the previous model. Nonetheless, better late than never, we suppose.
Our team is quite fond of the Honor Magic V2. One look at the dimensions will tell you why – it measures 156.7 x 74.1 x 9.9mm and weighs 231g when closed. For comparison, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is 162.3 x 79 x 8.6mm and weighs 232g, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max measures 159.9 x 76.7 x 8.3mm and weighs 221g.
As a bar phone, the V2 offers a fairly conventional 6.43” with a 1,060 x 2,376px (20:9) display. However, the device’s 7.92” 10-bit 120Hz LTPO display on the inside makes it like a mini tablet that fits comfortably in your pocket. Additionally, the phone’s 66W charging speed and 5,000mAh battery further make it a serious competitor, despite the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. However, it lacks wireless charging to avoid adding thickness to the device.
The Honor Magic V2 is priced at £1,700/€2,000 for a 16/512GB unit, competing with smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5, Google Pixel Fold, and OnePlus Open. These devices are due for a replacement later this year, bringing updated hardware which may highlight the generational gap with the Magic V2.
Depending on the region, users may also have access to the Tecno Phantom V Fold, a more affordable option compared to the aforementioned phones.
Other options like the vivo X Fold2 and Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 are not widely available, and Huawei’s foldables are also not widely accessible. For more details on the Honor Magic V2, you can refer to our hands-on review of the phone.
