HMD has decided to take a new approach with its smartphones by adopting a multi-brand strategy, while still sticking with the Nokia name for its feature phones. Recently, the Finnish company launched three new handsets which put a modern twist on classic models – the Nokia 6310 (2024), 5310 (2024), and 230 (2024).
Nokia 6310 (2024)
The 2024 version of the Nokia 6310 comes with some new features. While it shares similarities with the 2021 model, HMD has upgraded it with a larger 1,450 mAh battery and a USB-C port.
Other specs such as a VGA camera with a flash, a 2.8” LCD display, dual-SIM slots with stand-by capabilities for both cards, and a microSD card slot remain unchanged.
Nokia 5310 (2024)
In the case of the Nokia 5310 (2024), HMD has retained the design from the 2020 model, but made it bigger to accommodate the larger 1,450 mAh battery. The chipset has been upgraded to Unisoc 6531F from Mediatek, resulting in a bigger 2.8” LCD display.
The Nokia 5310 has always been associated with music, and features play buttons on the right side, volume keys on the left, dual speakers, FM radio, and an 8/16 MB memory. The addition of a USB-C port is the only major change.
Nokia 230 (2024)
Similar to its siblings, the Nokia 230 (2024) maintains the classic design but gets a new battery. The phone retains the 2.8” TFT display with 65K colors and a 2 MP camera with LED flash on both sides.
Key upgrades include the 1,450 mAh battery, USB-C port, and Bluetooth 5.0 enabled by the Unisoc 6531F chipset. The phone retains features like a 3.5mm audio jack and 8/16 MB memory.
Pricing for these phones has not been disclosed by HMD. It’s worth noting that all three models are limited to 2G and do not support 3G or newer networks.
