YBR, short form for: “Yoo! Burgers’s Ride”
Yamaha YBR125G is Johar Town Burgers’ first choice. Their owners are probably people who try their best to adjust to DHA burger’s society, but due to a shortage of money, they buy this “YBRG.”
Coming back to the point, if you look into the design language of this tiny 125cc bike, Yamaha Pakistan has intentionally focused on styles and aesthetics because its Bangladeshi variant is not as aesthetically pleasing as its Pakistani variant. The Bengali variant looks like nothing more than a simple utility bike, but the Pakistani variant is a max-off mixture of dirt bike and cafe racer.
Here’s a short guide on how you can design a motorcycle like YBRG.
Note: This is a humorous article, so take it lightly. If you can’t, that’s just your problem!
Rule #1, Spend all Your R&D on the Design Department
The very first step in designing a YBRG-like motorcycle is to spend all your budget on Design. For example, if other companies allocate 40% for design and 60% for technology, in a bike like YBRG, you’ve got to spend at least 90% on the design department and 10% max for technology and features. Skipping this rule, you can’t design a #1 motorcycle like YBRG.
Make Sure that Motorcycle is All Show No Go
If you show the YBRG to any foreigner, they’ll believe that this machine will have at least a 300-400cc EFI engine. And that’s what all matters! Just make your bike look like a 300+cc EFI; who cares if the inside is a dinky 125cc carb engine?
Although YBR does have five gears and an OHC engine, the weight ratio doesn’t balance out with the body of this bike, resulting in an underpowered performance. But doesn’t matter? YBRG is a bike designed explicitly for GenZ burgers who just want a bike that “looks like” a 300-400cc bike.
Put all Standard Features in a Dinky 125cc.
If Suzuki can give traction control in a 660cc Alto, then Yamaha can also provide five gears, a trip-B meter, and a 14-liter fuel tank in a dinky 125cc motorcycle.
We already told you that the motive is to design a bike that is all show and no go, so you must put these standard features:
- Front disc brake
- Five gears, although you will never use it in the city because its 125cc engine doesn’t have enough torque.
- Fuel gauge
- Gear indicator
- Alloy rims
- Self-start
- Trip-B meter
Put the Price that Never Justify the Value
Once, a wise man said that in luxury items, you don’t pay for value; you pay for the name. The same goes for YBR. Just look at it. Do you really think it’s worth 455,000 PKR? We would never pay more than 230,000 PKR for this plastic 125cc.
But it’s not about value; it’s about looks and aesthetics. YBRG’s main consumer market is Johar Town Burger, which tries hard to adjust to the society of DHA burgers. Once your product becomes a targeted choice of burgers, they will be willing to pay anything just for the show-off.
Now, many people buy YBR for its practicality, such as its smooth ride quality and solid build quality, but the main target consumers of this bike are “wanna-be burger” people.
