You are going home or somewhere, but you remember you have to buy something because Ammi Nay Bola Tha, so you park your bike, move towards the shop, turn around, and BAM! Your motorcycle has disappeared, and it’s not where you left it. You don’t want this nightmare to happen to you. Therefore, precaution is better than cure.

Here are some ways  to protect your motorcycle in advance before being stolen

Use a Strong Aftermarket Side Lock

Regular OEM side locks are easy to break; pull them with a strong force, and they’ll break very easily.  Therefore, it’s best to go for an aftermarket side lock, which is big and bulky.

Usually, the mechanic will weld them with your chassis, but we don’t recommend doing so. You can use a superglue or screws that make it almost impossible for the thief to break it.

This is an excellent idea. These locks are hard as a rock and will not break without gas welding. A professional thief can still break that lock, but it’ll indeed create a strong resistance for them to skip your motorcycle and look for another one.

Just make sure to keep the key to that lock, as it is not very easy to break DIY.

Park in Crowded Parking

Thieves often choose bikes parked in remote or isolated spots. They will always avoid crowded parking spots where there are many eyes and cameras to spot them. So make sure to try to park in front of stores and on roads and avoid back areas like the back of the store to save Rs.20-40 of parking fees.

Good Wire Lock

Wire locks don’t necessarily stop your bike from getting stolen, but they’ll surely add good resistance when a thief tries to break the lock. Cheap locks like Zhongli use hard plastic and thick metal wire. They’re not unbreakable, but it will take a lot of time and effort for the thief to break them.

Don’t Leave Key in Ignition

You know it only takes 2-3 seconds for a thief to kickstart the bike and disappear. You stop your bike at a general store for a quick shopping stop; this time is more than enough for anyone to kickstart, put the gear, and leave the spot along with your motorcycle.

Always practice turning off the ignition and removing the key, even if you’re leaving for a few seconds, especially if you live in Karachi.

Use a Tracker

Unless your bike is worth over 300k, there’s little reason to use a tracker. These tracker companies typically charge around 15-20k, which is a one-time cost.

The real issue isn’t the price; thieves are often aware of where trackers are installed. They know to check common spots, such as under the seat or near the engine on the chassis. Once they find the tracker, they’ll remove it immediately. So, it’s ultimately up to you whether or not to go with a tracker.

Don’t Try to Be a Hero

Last but not least, if the robbers pull over on you and point a pistol on your stomach, just hand over your bike to them. The bike is never more important than your life; hand them over. If you try to do any defense, robbers will instantly panic and will shoot you. Therefore, just hand them over everything they demand.

You’ll buy a new motorcycle, but your life and health are too important to risk over your motorcycle.
