Today, Huawei made an announcement about signing a long-term agreement with vivo, following Nokia’s similar deal just a month ago. As part of the agreement, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer will be paying royalties for 5G technologies, which will enable them to expand their operations in countries where Huawei has a presence in the 5G communications market.
Alan Fan, who heads Huawei’s Intellectual Property Department, stated in a press release that this agreement demonstrates a mutual appreciation for each other’s patents’ value. This deal sets the stage for future collaborations between the two companies.
Fan also mentioned that both companies are investing in fundamental research together and are committed to standardizing and sharing innovative advancements. As of now, there has been no official statement from vivo regarding this partnership.
In the last 24 hours, Huawei has also struck a significant deal with Amazon, granting the US company access to WiFi and video playback-related patent technologies in Germany and globally.
