At the HarmonyOS Ecosystem development event, Huawei’s President of Device Cloud announced that the HarmonyOS NEXT software system is the second stage of development. By the end of 2024, the company anticipates the addition of 5,000 new native apps to the HarmonyOS app store.
Huawei intends to collaborate with other businesses and educational institutions and train over 100,000 developers each month to boost the HarmonyOS app ecosystem.
Looking forward, Huawei aims to surpass 500,000 native apps for HarmonyOS in the near future. For comparison, Apple’s App Store reached 1.78 million apps in 2022, so Huawei’s app store still has a long way to go.
HarmonyOS NEXT introduces a new UI and its own UI toolkit, SDK, and compiler. According to the company, it is the first release of HarmonyOS that is completely independent from Android.
