Huawei released two foldable phones last year, the Mate X3 and Mate X5, with a unique folding style, but did not have a vertical foldable phone – the most recent addition, which is the Huawei Pocket S, was released late in 2022. A new model is finally in development and early renders were shared by Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo.
The Huawei Pocket 2 is shown in three colors: black, Dark Purple with a leather-like texture, and Rococo White with a marble effect.

Similar to its predecessors, the phone has two circular designs on its back – one is for the camera island and the other is for the cover display. The P50 Pocket and Pocket S had a 1.04” circular OLED display with 340 x 340px resolution on the cover.
Regarding the camera island, it includes three lenses, although detailed information about the modules is unavailable. Just like the P50 Pocket and Pocket S, which featured a 40MP main camera and 13MP ultra-wide camera, it is possible that this new model will come with similar or improved features. Notably, the P50 model had an uncommon 32MP camera that was used for ultraviolet spectrum photography (used for the Sunscreen Test feature).
It is anticipated that Huawei may launch the Pocket 2 alongside the upcoming Huawei P70 series, given that the P60 series was released in March last year, although Pocket models tend to be introduced later in the year.
