Counterpoint Research released an interesting analysis of the Chinese smartphone market. Combining the data from the first two weeks of the year, it is evident that Huawei has shipped more devices than any other company, making it the current best-selling brand.

According to the report, Huawei’s success is attributed to the sales of the Mate 60 with the China-developed Kirin 9000 chipset, consumer brand loyalty, and the rapid progress of in-house Harmony OS 4.0.

Counterpoint: Huawei begins 2024 as the best-selling smartphone company in China

Counterpoint Research typically provides insight into a specific smartphone market for a longer period, so it remains to be seen if this trend will continue throughout the entire quarter. However, the data speaks for itself – Huawei is definitely making a comeback. The introduction of the nova 12 series in December likely contributed to the increase in sales numbers.

All three Huawei nova 12 phones – the standard, Pro, and Ultra models – are equipped with the Kirin 9000S chipset, manufactured by SMIC using 7 nm process technology. While the company’s official stance is not to comment on the SoC situation, reports have revealed that Huawei is receiving substantial support from the state government to become a leading chip manufacturer, which will undoubtedly further bolster smartphone sales in the future.
