In 2019, Hyundai Nishat Motors introduced what it refers to as Tucson’s 3rd generation in the local market, even though a newer version was already on sale in other countries. Recently, a different Tucson, which seems to be the 4th gen pre-facelift, was seen on local roads in Pakistan.
Possible Launch?
It obviously got our attention, and we asked Hyundai Nishat whether they are planning to launch it in Pakistan or not. In answer to the query, one of the company officials stated that “it is a private import, not an official unit” and that “the company has no immediate plans to launch the new generation of Tucson in Pakistan in 2025.”
However, some of our experts doubt this is a makeup story because importing a 4th generation Tucson on your own would cost about 24 million PKR. With that money, a buyer would potentially prefer a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado or a high-end German SUV, as those options offer better resale and more prestige than Tucson 4th-gen. Hence, there is a distant possibility that Hyundai Nishat has imported this unit to test it on the local roads. Also, there is a chance that the local market will get a new generation of Kia Sportage in 2025, so the launch of its competitor is a possibility.
Anyways, the new Tucson spotted in Pakistan looks like the global 4th generation model before the facelift. Its exterior and interior, of course, look more advanced than the Tucson currently sold here. If Hyundai is testing this newer shape, it might be aiming for a 2025 release in Pakistan.
