New features are being added to Instagram direct messages (DMs). One of these features is the ability to edit messages within 15 minutes of sending them. To edit a message, simply press and hold on it and select “edit” from the dropdown menu.

Additionally, users now have the option to turn read receipts on or off for all chats or specific ones in their account settings. Note that read receipts are not available for end-to-end encrypted chats, and this setting can be modified at any time.

Users can now pin up to three favorite chats at the top of their messaging inbox for quick access. To pin a chat, swipe left or tap and hold on it, then select “pin”. Any pinned chat can be unpinned at any time.

Instagram also allows users to save their favorite stickers in DMs for easy access, reply to messages with GIFs, videos, photos, and voice messages, and choose from new themes for chats such as Love, Lollipop, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
