It is anticipated that vivo will launch two foldable devices in the form of books by the end of Q1 2024. As per Digital Chat Station, these will be the X Fold3 and the X Fold3 Pro, and both have received certification from Chinese authorities.

The leaker claimed that the new duo will offer several enhancements over the X Fold2, such as improved screen resolution, a larger battery, 50 MP sensors for all cameras, and a lightweight design.

Releasing a more powerful variant of a smartphone is a common strategy in the traditional smartphone market but is quite rare in the foldable world. The poster revealed that the X Fold3 Pro will feature a periscope lens for the telephoto camera, 50W wireless charging, and an under-display fingerprint scanner.

While the latter two features are not new and were previously included in the X Fold and X Fold2, it seems vivo may offer the X Fold3 with some features removed to lower the price, while the X Fold3 Pro will be the true successor of the X Fold2.

Offering different options is beneficial for consumers, but ultimately, it may not matter if vivo continues to only sell its foldables in China.
