The initial OnePlus Watch was released three years ago with its own operating system. However, the company has now introduced a revamped model with significant improvements – introducing the OnePlus Watch 2.
The OnePlus Watch 2 utilizes a “Dual Engine Architecture” featuring two chipsets and two operating systems. One is the Snapdragon W5, running Wear OS for full access to the app store. The other is the BES2700, which operates on a real-time OS (RTOS) at a low power.
When in Smart Mode, users can enjoy features like Google Maps, Assistant, Wallet, Calendar, Keep, and Gmail. There are 20 pre-installed watch faces with the option to download 80 more. The 500mAh battery in Smart Mode lasts up to 100 hours with normal use or up to 48 hours with heavy use.
Switching to Power Saver Mode retains essential functions such as sleep and heart rate tracking, sports modes like swimming and cycling, and the ability to make and receive calls. With Power Saver mode activated, the watch can last up to 12 days on a single charge.
For fast charging, the watch comes with a 7.5W VOOC fast charger. A full 100% charge only takes 60 minutes, but a quick 10-minute charge can provide a full day of battery life in Smart Mode for those in a hurry.
The design of the OnePlus Watch 2 features a stainless steel body measuring 47.0 x 46.6 x 12.1mm, providing durability and a weight of 49g, or 80g with the fluoro rubber strap (including a stainless steel buckle).
Protected by 2.5D sapphire glass, the 1.43” AMOLED display boasts a resolution of 466 x 466px and operates at 60Hz. The display can reach up to 1,000 nits in High Brightness Mode for clear visibility outdoors.
With a 5 ATM water resistance rating, the watch is suitable for swimming and complies with the MIL-STD-810H standard.
Sport modes: Running • Badminton • Tennis • Skiing
Other modes like Tennis and Badminton keep track of swings, shots played, and types of shots. Skiing mode records speed, slope, altitude, and more for winter sports enthusiasts.
The Wear OS 4 system allows for 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, enabling offline map and music storage among other features.
The OnePlus Watch 2 is available in Radiant Steel and Black Steel
The OnePlus Watch 2 is currently available for pre-order, with open sales starting on March 4. Different offers are available in various regions, including discounts and freebies.
