Following numerous leaks, many of which were from the Korean company itself, Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Fit3 today. This new wearable features a larger screen, longer battery life, and some new features. The highly-anticipated successor to the Fit2 will be available for purchase worldwide starting tomorrow, February 23, although Samsung has not disclosed pricing information.
The Fit3 is equipped with a 1.6″ AMOLED display, which is 45% larger than its predecessor. It features a single button on the right side and a one-click quick-release mechanism for the band. Unfortunately, the band does not support wireless charging, and its proprietary charger uses two pogo pins at its base.
The Fit3 is the first device in the series to support Fall Detection and Emergency SOS, which is activated after pressing the button five times in rapid succession. Upon activation, your location will be shared with emergency contacts that you have pre-set.
Samsung claims that the Galaxy Fit3 can last for 13 days on a single charge with its 208 mAh battery. Its lack of Wear OS or any other heavy interface, and simply featuring some basic mini apps like Calendar, Weather, World Clock, and sports tracking, contributes to its impressive battery life.
The Fit3 supports over 100 types of workouts; however, it does not have GPS, so paired smartphone is needed for better tracking for any activity involving movement in the open. The wearable also tracks sleep patterns, steps, and stress levels, with all this information visible in the Samsung Health app.
The Galaxy Fit3 will be available in Gray, Pink Gold, and Silver colors. Samsung plans to launch the device in Asia, Europe, Central America, and South America first, with the United States and Korea expected to follow soon.
